HydroTech Burst Proof Expandable Hose - 5/8" Diameter Recall

Winston Products, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is conducting a voluntary recall of the HydroTech Burst Proof Expandable Hose – 5/8” Diameter. The recalled hoses can burst, posing an impact hazard and a risk of temporarily impaired hearing if the strain relief is fully unthreaded or breaks. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled hoses.

All 5/8” diameter HydroTech Expandable Burst Proof Hoses (25 ft, 50 ft, 60 ft, 75 ft, 100 ft, 200 ft) that include a manufacturing date code ending in -211, -212, -213, -214, -221, -222, -223, -224, -231, -232, -233, -234, -241, -242, -243, or no date code displayed are valid for the recall.

NOT included in voluntary recall: 5'8" diameter HydroTech Expandable Burst Proof hoses with a manufacturing date code of -244, -251, -252, and -253 are not included. The HydroTech PRO SERIES 3/4“ diameter 2x Max Flow or FLAT JACKET product lines are not included.

The recall applies to hoses manufactured on or before August 31, 2024. To determine whether your hose is recalled, pull out the washer on the regulator end of the hose and look for a code underneath it, as shown below:

To participate in the recall, select a process based on where you purchased your hose:

Walmart, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, or Do It Best (in-store or online):

  • Bring your recalled hose to any of the locations for the retailers that you purchased from to receive a full refund from the retailer.
  • If you purchased from Home Depot or Ace Hardware and do not have a receipt, you will receive the average sales price of your model.
  • If you purchased from Walmart or Do It Best and do not have a receipt, these stores can locate your order using debit/credit card information for in-store purchases and email address or phone number for online purchases.

Amazon, HydroTechProducts.com, or Other Retailers:

  • Destroy your hose by cutting off the regulator end with scissors, and then initial and date the regulator.
  • Submit for a refund using the online form: hydrotechproducts.com/voluntaryrecallprocessing.
  • In the online form you will be asked to provide:

1. A photo of the manufactured date code on the regulator, or a photo of the area where the code should appear (see instructions above). Not all regulators will have a date code. See example here

2 . A photo of the of the hose cut with scissors at the regulator and initialed and dated with a permanent marker. At least 6 inches of the hose must still be attached to the regulator. See example here

3. Proof of purchase and warranty registration are not required.
